CARIN

The Central Alberta Regional Innovation Network (CARIN) was the first innovation network in Alberta. The key to CARIN’s success has been an ambitious effort to reach out to industry in Central Alberta and establish trusting relationships. By visiting companies at their locations, network advisors understand the needs of companies and can address pain points. As more and more visits occur, it is possible to connect those in need of a solution with those who have solutions. Sometimes this means connecting firms to one another and sometimes it means connecting firms to educational and research institutions for training or for expert consulting advice. CARIN supports the broader Alberta Regional Innovation Network (RIN) System assuring that small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and entrepreneurs have access to vital services and resources to help them succeed. CARIN has a special advantage of bringing together under one roof: • The Red Deer College (RDC) & Olds College Applied Research and Innovation teams, • The Alberta Innovates Technology Futures (AITF) Technology Development Advisor, • The National Research Council Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP) Industrial Technology Advisor, and • The Central Alberta Access Prosperity Business Engagement Officers
